The Japanese men who are seeking more and more ear cleaning parlors
Japanese associate ear-cleaning with their childhood and many of them are willing to pay to return to those carefree days if only for just a few minutes. That's what makes ear-cleaning salons one of the most popular businesses in Japan right now.
Ever since Japan authorities decided to deregulate ear-cleaning as a medical profession, making it available without a medical license, hundreds of salons offering the service started popping up all over the country. The vast majority of clients are men looking to relax their minds after a stressful day, and travel back to the days when they used to rest their heads on their mothers' laps for the occasional ear cleaning session. Three out of four clients claim it's so relaxing they actually fall asleep while the kimono-wearing cleaners excavate the wax out of their ears.
Women who want to work in ear-cleaning salons have to become masters of the “mimikaki” (traditional cleaning tool), so they go through a one week course to acquire the proper ear-cleaning skills. They have to learn to remove just the right amount of ear wax, because it protects the ear canal, lubricates it and has antibacterial and antiviral properties. If all the wax is removed the canal is left vulnerable to a variety of outside threats. (Link | Via)

The woman who charges $60 an hour for spooning
It used to be that a hug was a comforting gesture of companionship between friends or lovers but one woman in Penfield, NY has turned cuddling into a business. Jacqueline Samuel, 29, opened The Snuggery in June 2012, a place where, from upwards of $60, clients can snuggle with the petite Master's student in a strictly non-sexual context.

The company that offers grandmas for rent
Rent-a-Grandma is a real company in Texas and Virginia. Basically, it's babysitting with a clever if not compelling advertising pitch. The company hires older women with childcare experience to provide in-home care.

The email service that anonymously notifies about nose hair if you are too shy to do so
Some people hesitate to approach people and inform them that they should trim their nose hairs. Why? I have no idea. It appears to be some weird social taboo about commenting on other people's body hair. But now it's not necessary to speak up. Chololi, the nose hair email notification service, will send an anonymous message to someone who needs a reminder. (Link | Via)

The company that offers a mobile hangover service in a bus
Hangover Heaven is a pretty simple service to use. The bus runs between 8 AM and 3 PM every day. Once on it, you can choose between two packages. There's Redemption, including intravenous hydration, or Salvation, including intravenous hydration, anti-nausea and anti-inflammatory medications that have been proven to cure hangover effects, and vitamin supplementation. Well, you can't really escape the IV, so you've got to go in there prepared for needles. An appointment can be booked through their website or on the phone, and they will come get you. Once the treatment is complete, you will be dropped off at the same place where you were picked up. Other services include coffee and refreshments on request, and iPads with headphones for entertainment.

This service would be really appropriate to rent for your bachelor party. (Link | Via)

World’s Worst Hotel Warns Visitors Before They Arrive.

What’s the worst hotel you’ve ever stayed in? Never mind, it couldn’t have been any worse than the Hans Brinker Budget Hostel in Amsterdam, which actually prides itself on being the “world’s worst hotel”.
While most other hotels go out of their way to convince potential clients they have the cleanest rooms, the most comfortable beds and the most incredible views, the Hans Brinker hostel lets everyone know just how awful their accommodations are. Some of their most popular advertising slogans include: ”It can’t get any worse. But we’ll do our best” or “Improve your immune system – stay at Hans Brinker!” Pretty funny stuff and although a lot of people who stayed there confirm it’s pretty much all true, it apparently just adds to the charm of the place. Despite management’s best efforts to warn guests about the rudimentary facilities of their establishment, most of the hotel’s 511 beds in 127 rooms are occupied these days. Of course, the fact that no room costs more than €25 ($32) can be considered an incentive.

World’s Longest Word Takes 3.5 Hours to Pronounce.

The full chemical name of the world’s largest known protein has 189,819The full chemical name of the world’s largest known protein has 189,819 letters and is considered the longest word in any language. If you’re one of those people who loves to watch paint dry, you can even watch a 3.5-hour video of a guy pronouncing the whole name.
Titin, also known as connection, is a giant protein composed of 244 individually folded protein domains connected by unstructured peptide sequences. Also the gene for titin contains the largest number of exons (363) discovered in any single gene. Titin is important in the contraction of striated muscle tissues, but it’s mostly known for its technical name, which is sometimes referred to as the longest known word in any language. The name “titin” is derived from the Greek “titan” (a giant deity, anything of great size), but it’s the full chemical name that really does it justice. I could just paste it in this post, but it would take you forever just to scroll through it, so I’m just going to say it starts with methanol… and ends …isoleucine. You can fill in the middle part yourself. But if you’re really curious to hear someone pronounce the world’s longest word, there’s a cool video of some Russian-sounding guy who takes around 3.5 hours to go through all the letters, and even grows a beard in the process. After a while, it all starts to sound like mumbling, but you have to admire the poor guy for his effort.

For obvious reasons, the full chemical name of titin is not listed in dictionaries, as many lexicographers regard generic names of chemical compounds as verbal formulae, not English words. Well, call it what you will, a word, a formulae, a short story, this thing, whatever it is, is pretty darn long. Geekologie even has a text file with the name available for download, but just looking at it just makes my eyes hurt.

A Sad Story of a Man Who Refuses to Wear Pants!

44-year-old Vladimir Fomin, from Kineshma, a town in Russia’s Ivanovo Region, is a very peculiar man. He became somewhat of a celebrity in his country after he was expelled from the University of Mathematics for refusing to wear pants and walking around in women’s clothing.
Vladimir certainly isn’t the only man in the world who prefers skirts and dresses to pants, but his reasons are definitely unique. He is not gay nor a transvestite, nor does he want to attract media attention. He just wants to stand up for the rights of men to wear whatever kind of clothes they like. After all, women are allowed to wear pants, so why can’t men wear dresses or skirts, why is that regarded as weird? But his fight for the rights of the stronger sex have brought him nothing but trouble. Despite being one of the brightest students at the Ivanovo University of Mathematics and earning a scholarship, he was expelled because of his fashion choices, he was shunned by most of his friends and relatives and even verbally abused and beaten by locals in his home town for walking around in women’s clothes. But in spite of all these problems, Vladimir Fromin continues his fight for the right to dress any way he likes, and hopes to one day be able to walk around in his skirts without being discriminated against. And he has a wardrobe of over 30 women’s garments prepared.

Channing Tatum 'Sexiest Man Alive' According to People Magazine!

People magazine may need some extra security outside its headquarters tomorrow, because Ryan Gosling fans are once again sure to be outraged that the magazine's annual "Sexiest Man Alive" honor went to someone else. As predicted, Channing Tatum was crowned People's 2012 "Sexiest Man Alive."

When the 32-year-old star found out he'd be joining the list of elite men that includes last, Ryan Reynolds, and two-time winners Brad Pitt and George Clooney, he almost didn't believe it."My first thought was, 'Y'all are messing with me,'" he told the magazine, adding that he then told his wife, actress Jenna Dewan Tatum, who didn't quite believe it either."She was like, 'What?'" he recalled, adding that she came around to the title. "Yeah, she calls me the Sexiest Man Alive Now."
That shouldn't be too strange for Tatum, since the heartthrob is used to female attention. The former stripper parlayed his charm and dancing skills into the basis for the film "Magic Mike," and soon fans will get to see him in another movie that relies on his incredibly toned body, when he portrays an Olympic wrestler in "Foxcatcher."For more with Channing Tatum and more than 180 other sexy men, pick up this week's issue of People magazine, on newsstands Friday, Nov. 16.

College Sweethearts Finally Marry Almost 50 Years After their Breakup!

They say true love stands the test of time. And for Emilie Danielson, 70, and Terry Britton, 69, that has certainly proven true.On Nov. 11, 52 years after they originally met as college freshmen attending Chapman University in Orange, Calif., the blushing bride and her now very grateful groom finally said their "I do's" to one another. The couple first began dating in 1960 and admittedly fell fast and hard for each other."We would walk down to this tiny little church down the road and make out like crazy in the back of the pew," Danielson told ABCNews.com.

But over the years, although the passion was strong between them, they somehow lost touch and can't even explain today how or why it happened."We do not know how we lost touch. That's the weirdest thing," Danielson said. "We dated for two years. The second year we decided to leave and go to junior college to save money for a year. And then something happened, but we don't know what happened. We just don't remember."Neither of them have any recollection of a specific fight that tore them apart, but Britton was at least able to explain part of the reason they lost touch. As most young men in the 1960s did, he went into the Vietnam War, serving a year in Vietnam and three more years after that in Berlin. At the time, Danielson didn't even know he was overseas."We went on different paths because of life. That's how life happens," Britton explained. "Going to the war was quite an interruption, but I survived that."As time passed, Danielson went on to marry someone else, has since been widowed twice, and has three children and seven grandchildren. Britton, on the other hand, was never married.

"She corresponded by Christmas cards with my mother for 50 years. My mom didn't want her to even know that I was touring in the war."But unbeknownst to Britton, his mother had responded to one of Danielson's Christmas cards with a letter explaining that her son had always wanted to be with Danielson. However, Danielson was married at the time and was obviously not going to jeopardize that relationship. Nonetheless, she always held those words close. As more time elapsed, Britton's parents eventually passed away, and he temporarily moved to Arkansas to tend to their belongings and sort out their affairs.

"I didn't know his parents had died so I kept sending Christmas cards to their home in Arkansas," Danielson said. "I sent my usual picture of the family, but I didn't think too much about it when I didn't get one back."
But as fate would have it, Britton was the one that received the Christmas card revealing a picture of Danielson's face. It was the first time he had laid eyes on her since college.
"Terry received it instead because he had to move to his parent's house to help in Arkansas. He had to live there and inherited the home and had to straighten out business," Danielson said. "He received the letter I thought was going to his parents. So he sent me a letter back to my address saying 'Oh my goodness. My parents are gone, but I'd love to talk to you.'"

They finally gave each other a call, enjoyed many conversations reminiscing on old times, and decided it was best not to deny their feelings any longer.
"He said 'I want to marry you, but I think I should see you after 50 years,'" Danielson explained. "He said 'I'm afraid I don't look the same way I looked when I was 17.' He wanted to move back to California and us to be married."
Fast forward to June 10, 2012, when Danielson made the cross-country trip to Arkansas to visit Britton, and the rest as they say, is history.
"It's a god thing. There was some divine intervention in there," Danielson said. "He's the only being that could have ever put this together after all these years. It's beyond our wildest dreams. We had friends in the wedding that we knew in college. It was like a fairy tale come true."
The lovebirds moved back to Santa Ana, Calif., and were married in Waverly Chapel on Sunday.
"We never forgot each other," Britton quietly added.
The newlyweds left today for a brief honeymoon in Laguna Beach, Calif., before they have to hurry home to host Thanksgiving for Danielson's children and grandchildren.

This would result in a bag full of McShaker “Gangnam Style” fries.

Man sues his wife for being ugly!

A Chinese man divorced and then sued his ex-wife for giving birth to what he called an extremely ugly baby girl, the Irish Times reported.Initially, Jian Feng accused his wife of infidelity, so sure that he could never father an unattractive child.

When a DNA test proved that the baby was his, Feng's wife came clean on a little secret -- before they met, she had undergone about $100,000 worth of cosmetic surgery in South Korea.
Feng sued his ex-wife on the grounds of false pretenses, for not telling him about the plastic surgery and duping him into thinking she was beautiful, The Huffington Post reported.

The kicker? He won. A judge agreed with Feng's argument and ordered his ex-wife to split over $120,000."I married my wife out of love, but as soon as we had our first daughter, we began having marital issues," he told the Irish Times. "Our daughter was incredibly ugly, to the point where it horrified me."

Peperspray Iphone Case: Protect your self.

A mobile phone can be a real lifesaver in an emergency situation, don’t you agree? And now it also can be a self-defense weapon. The Spraytech Self-Defense iPhone Case includes a detachable pepper spray cartridge. Normally I question the practicality of “purse weapons” (like lipstick tubes with a hidden knife inside) but the idea behind this product seems pretty sound. Not only do you always have your phone nearby, you might already have it in hand to call 911 if you’re in a dangerous situation. (Unlike the situation where someone attacks you and you go, “Wait, wait, I have to put some lipstick on first.” and then you stab them.) If you’re a doubter you might be saying “But couldn’t you accidentally mace your friends while updating Facebook statues?” Nope. The case features multiple safety mechanisms so you’ll never accidentally trigger the spray. Really awesome stuff, let us know what you think?

Sushi-scented cologne!

For all you sushi lovers out there, guess what? there is a sushi-scented cologne. Food colognes should make a lot of sense. Food smells good. Perfumes and colognes also smell good. So why is it that every time I try to imagine a sushi-scented cologne, I get dizzy and seasick!

But if you’re totally fine with pissing everyone off within a 3 foot radius, this Sushi cologne by Demeter has apparently been around for a while now. Which shouldn’t be too surprising, considering their scent repertoire includes such concoctions as DirtCrayon and Laundromat
According to the cologne’s website, “Sushi” doesn’t actually smell like fish per se, consisting instead of “just cooked sticky rice and straight from the seaside seaweed, laced with hints of ginger and lemon essences.” But anything outside of a Japanese restaurant that reminds me I’m not currently eating sushi is still enough to be annoying.
What do you think? would you buy one and try it out?

Celebrities back to the streets of NYC after hurrican sandy

Heidi Klum, who's usually all decked out in a ghoulish Halloween costume this time of year, was dressed down despite the spooky date on the calendar.
Days after Hurricane Sandy swept through the Northeast, things are still far from normal. In parts of Lower Manhattan – home to many A-listers – residents have been without electricity for days, and many of the other boroughs have been hit even harder.

Under that puffy parka is actor/director Ed Burns, who lives with his wife, model Christy Turlington, and their two children in Tribeca. He used a scooter to make the trek uptown to pick up supplies for his brood.

West Village residents Julianne Moore and her husband, director Bart Freundlich, stepped out for a cup of Joe, and to inspect the damage around the city.

Katie Holmes reportedly rode out the storm in her apartment with daughter Suri by her side, but relocated to an uptown hotel afterward. The New York Post also says that Holmes' scheduled return to Broadway in the show "Dead Accounts" has been put on hold for a week.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos stayed comfy, cozy, and coordinated in puffy jackets as they pounded the pavement in the wake of the storm.

Sarah Jessica Parker was able to keep a smile on her face, despite the fact that her home in the city's West Village lost power during the storm.
